Mr Askhat Zhumagali

Mr. Askhat Zhumagali has been serving as the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan since April 5, 2023. Prior to this, he acted as the Agency Deputy Chairman (2022-2023).
Following completion of a law degree at Buketov Karaganda State University, Mr. Zhumagali started his career in the prosecutorial authorities, where he assumed various positions progressing to the post of the Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001-2010).
He joined the Agency for Combatting Economic and Corruption Crimes (Financial Police) in 2012 where he took on the role of the Adviser to the Chairman. He was later promoted to the position of the First Deputy Head and then the Head of the Department for Investigations.
In 2014, Mr. Zhumagali continued his career at the Prosecutor General’s Office. Between 2016 and 2018, he worked as the Deputy Director and the Director of the Interdepartmental Research Institute of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Since 2018, he has taken significant responsibilities in the Anti-Corruption Authority as the Deputy Head of the Department for Investigations and the Head of the Pre-Trial Investigation Service. Between these jobs in the central office, he served as the Head of Regional Departments in North Kazakhstan and the city of Shymkent.
